Passport & Visa
TOURIST VISA
A valid Passport with Entry Visa is
required of all visitors. A Tourist Visa allows a stay of 28
days, extendible for an additional 14 days. There are two
kinds of Myanmar Entry Visas for Tourists in general.
1. Individual Visa (Free Independent
Traveler) – E.V.T (FIT)
2. Package Tour – E.V.T
Both visas are issued by a Myanmar
Embassy or Consulate. It usually takes 3-5 days to issue
these visas. Presently Visa Fee is 30US$. For E.V.T
(Package) visa, with the confirmation of your booking, we
will send the letter to the Embassy and copy to you by Fax
or E-mail. We needs the full name , passport numbers and
nationality from you.
BORDER PASS INFORMATION
Overland entry is permitted for Thai
tourists with border pass and for third party tourists with
visa at Tachileik, Three Pagoda Pass, Myawaddy and Kawthaung
check points along Myanmar-Thai Border; and for Chinese
tourists with border pass and for third party tourists with
visa at Lweje , Nam Kham, Muse, Kyukoke , Kwanlong, Mont Lar
along Myanmar-China Border.
Border check point opens from 6:00AM to
6:00PM for weekdays and from 6:00AM to 9:00PM for weekends
and holidays.
BUSINESS VISA
A valid passport with Entry visa is
required for all businessmen, applicable at Myanmar
Embassies and Consulate General Offices abroad. A Business
Visa allows a stay of 28 days, extendible up to 12 months on
a case-by-case basis. Visa on Arrival is granted on prior
arrangement with the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
MEDITATION VISA
OVERVIEW
(1) Determine which duration of visit you
want to undertake - 28-day or 3-month.
(2) Write to the monastery to obtain permission to visit and
stay. The monastery will respond with a sponsorship letter.
(3) Obtain visa.
(4) Travel to Myanmar (usually arriving in Yangon).
28-DAY VS. 3-MONTH VISIT AND VISAS
You must get a visa before travelling to
Myanmar. There are several different types of visas, but the
two that concern us here are the 28-day tourist visa and the
3-month meditation visa.
If you wish to stay in the country for 28 days or less, the
tourist visa is the right one for you. For a longer stay, up
to 3 months, you need a special meditation visa. As its name
implies, this visa cannot be used for tourist purposes - you
can use it to travel to and from your host meditation center
or monastery only. A meditaiton visa is more difficult to
obtain, but is better if you wish to stay longer than 28
days.
OBTAINING A VISA
TOURIST VISA: You can apply for a 28-day
tourist visa at the Myanmar embassy in your country. This
can be done via post or by sending by E-Mail scanned copy of
the sponsorship letter but the whole process can take 3
months or more.
3-MONTH MEDITATION VISA: The only way to
reliably obtain a meditation visa is to apply at the Myanmar
embassy in your countries. First of all, you need to e-mail
your full name, passport number and your address to jutivara@gmail.com
to get a sponsorship letter.Then, we will e-mail you a
scanned sponsorship letter have it signed by meditation
teacher from the monastery (www.sayadawutejaniya.org).
VISA ON ARRIVAL
- Myanmar Visa VOA (visa on arrival) is for tourists.
- A valid passport or travel document not less than 6 months from entry date.
- Passenger must have return ticket from Myanmar.
- Children under 7 years will be exempt from visa fee.
- For individual visitor or tourist, must have USD 300 to show CASH as evidence of
sufficient funds. Familites, must have USD 600 or must have any foreign currency
equivalent to above mentioned amount in USD.
- Must agree to follow prevailing visa rules and regulation during their visit in
Myanmar.
- Visitors are not allowed to visit restricted areas without notification or
permission.
- Tour itinerary must be mentioned. Tentative tour program and more importantly
hotels must be mentioned and authority concerned will check if hotel booking is
genuine. There are official hotels with their rates are mentioned at the bottom
of this page for convenience.
- Visa application can also be submitted at Myanmar Embassy nearest to your
location. Officials at the embassies are more than happy to process your tourist
visa. Please see a complete list of Myanmar Embassy and Consular offices at the
bottom.
- It is necessary to send us the two of your photos (4-6 cm)which are made within
six months of arrival day by email, fax or by post.
- The Form of Visa on Arrival can have in advance at the airline.
- Rates for Tourist Visa is 30US$ for 1 person and to pay on arrival, plus Company
Service Charges + Documentation Fees. They will allow 28 days and don’t allow to
apply extension for Tourist Visa.
- Rates for Business Visa is 40US$ for 1 person and to pay on arrival, plus
Company Service Charges + Documentation Fees. They will allow 71 days and can
apply extension for Business Visa.
- Rates for Social Visa is 40US$ for 1 person and to pay on arrival, plus Company
Service Charges + Documentation Fees. They will allow 28 days and can apply
extension for Social Visa.
- Rates for Transit Visa is 18US$ for 1 person and to pay on arrival, plus Company
Service Charges + Documentation Fees. It can stay 24 hours.
- The information of the clients as follows is necessary:
1. Clients full name and Passport numbers.
2. Date of issue and place of issue.
3. Date of expire.
4. Father’s name.
5. Date of Birth and place of birth.
6. Occupation.
7. Home address.
8. Nationality.
9. 2 recent photos size photographs.
10. Countries for passport valid.
Visa-on-arrival takes about 10 working
days but sometimes it took 3 days.
VISA EXTENSION
- Fill in the Extension form.
- If you are sure you will need Visa Extension before you arrive, you can give
us the form, your original passport and 2 photos and USD 50 for 2 weeks
extension.
- If you are not sure, print out this form and call us at 386469 when you are
in Yangon. We will collect Recommendation for your hotel the form, passport, 2
photos and 50 USD for 2 weeks extension.
- For Visa 1st one must obtain a letter of endorsement from Ministry of Hotel &
Tourism and then submit to Ministry of Immigration. It will take at least 2 days
and max 5 days to get Tourist Visa extended.
